6th Annual Religious Liberty Writing Competition

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society announces the 6th Annual Religious Liberty Writing Competition, made possible by the Jack P. Peterson and Maude Birkin Peterson Endowment.  The purpose of the writing competition is to promote legal and academic studies in the field of religious liberty by law students and students pursuing related graduate studies. Students who have graduated from law school but who are not yet practicing law due to clerkships or other similar pursuits are also invited to submit papers.

Shawn Bentley Public Service Award

In December we announced that the DC chapter would begin accepting applications for the Shawn Bentley Public Service Stipend for students who are members of the JRCLS and who will work this summer (2015) in the DC area for a not-for-profit, or other public entity such as Congress or the Federal Government. See the Announcement Letter for more details. Applications are due February 2, 2015.

International Religious Liberty Award Dinner and Reception

The J. Reuben Clark Law Society, Mid-Atlantic Chapter is pleased to announce the 5th Annual International Religious Liberty Award Dinner and Reception.  In conjunction with the J. Reuben Clark Law School's International Center for Law and Religious Studies, we congratulate this year's award recipient Congressman Frank Wolf from Virginia for his many years of support and work for religious liberty.  Throughout his career in Congress, Representative Wolf has championed efforts to alert our nation and the world to the plight of men, women, and children who are persecuted for living their religious convictions. For his tireless advocacy and record of legislative accomplishment, we proudly announce his selection for the 2014 International Religious Liberty Award.

Time: Reception at 6pm and Dinner at 6:30.

REMINDER - Religious Liberty Writing Competition

Each year, the DC Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, in conjunction with BYU's International Center for Law & Religion Studies, sponsors a religious liberty writing competition for law school and other graduate students. The top entry will be awarded a $2000 cash prize, plus $500 toward the cost of traveling to the Chapter's Annual Religious Liberty Award Dinner, which will take place in Washington DC on October 9, 2014. The second and third place winners will also be awarded cash prizes.
